Treatment for Mental Health Conditions & Addiction Recovery in Northridge
At Miracles in Action, we recognize the immense sacrifices made by our nation’s veterans, and we understand that the battle doesn’t always end when service does. Many veterans grapple with mental health conditions, addiction, or dual diagnoses that can make the transition back to civilian life challenging. It’s important to distinguish between active duty service members and military veterans, as our programs are specifically tailored for those who have transitioned from active duty to veteran status, ensuring their unique needs are addressed.
Our goal is to provide a lifeline to these heroic individuals, offering comprehensive and compassionate treatment programs tailored to the unique needs of veterans. Understanding military culture and military experience is essential in designing veteran-focused care that truly resonates with those we serve. Our treatment for veterans is veteran focused, utilizing evidence-based therapies and peer support to address the specific challenges faced by military veterans.
We accept Tricare plans and can help you review your options regarding coverage as well as payment plans to ensure you get the support you need. Our admissions team is also experienced in helping veterans navigate their VA benefits, making the process of accessing care as smooth as possible.

Admissions and Enrollment
At Miracles in Action, we understand that taking the first step toward treatment can feel overwhelming, especially for veterans facing mental health challenges or substance use disorders. That’s why our admissions process for the partial hospitalization program (PHP) is designed to be as smooth and supportive as possible. Veterans or their loved ones can begin by reaching out to our admissions team by phone or through an online inquiry. From the very first contact, our compassionate staff will guide you through each stage of the admissions process, ensuring your questions are answered and your concerns addressed.
A key part of enrollment is verifying insurance coverage and discussing available treatment options, including our specialized partial hospitalization program PHP. We work with a variety of insurance providers, including Tricare, to help ensure that financial concerns do not stand in the way of accessing the care you need. Once coverage is confirmed, we schedule an intake assessment—a vital step that allows our team to understand your unique needs and challenges. This assessment helps us develop an individualized treatment plan tailored to address both mental health and substance use issues, ensuring you receive the most effective care possible.
Our goal is to make the transition into treatment as seamless as possible, so you can focus on your recovery journey. Whether you are seeking help for yourself or a loved one, Miracles in Action is here to support veterans every step of the way, providing expert care for mental health and substance use disorders in a safe, respectful environment.

Therapy sessions can address issues such as moral injury and survivor's guilt, which are common among military veterans. We also offer specialized support for first responders who may face similar challenges.
What Is the Difference Between PHP and Intensive Outpatient Programs?
Our Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) each have distinct features to suit different needs. PHP is a highly structured program providing intensive, therapeutic support between 25 – 30 hours, five days a week. PHP programs are a form of structured care that offer more support than a traditional outpatient program, making them especially effective for veterans who need a higher level of care. Compared to inpatient rehab and residential treatment, PHP offers intensive medical care and therapeutic support without requiring an overnight stay, allowing participants to return home each night. One key benefit of PHP programs is the improvement in coping skills and relapse management, supporting long-term recovery and ongoing stability.
On the other hand, IOP is less intensive, offering therapy sessions a few hours a day, several days a week. Outpatient programs like IOP allow veterans to maintain their daily life and return to their own homes after treatment sessions, providing flexibility for those with work or family commitments or those transitioning from more intensive care. Both programs provide a supportive path towards recovery, with individualized treatment plans, peer support, and a focus on holistic wellness.

Recovery and Aftercare
Completing a partial hospitalization program is a significant milestone, but recovery is an ongoing journey that requires continued support and care. At Miracles in Action, we are committed to helping veterans maintain their progress and build a foundation for long-term recovery. After finishing the PHP, many veterans transition to intensive outpatient programs or traditional outpatient therapy, where they can continue to strengthen their coping skills and receive ongoing guidance from experienced medical professionals.
Our aftercare services are designed to provide a supportive environment where veterans can participate in group therapy and family therapy sessions, fostering connection and peer support. These therapy sessions help address the unique challenges veterans face, such as combat trauma, post traumatic stress disorder, and military sexual trauma. We utilize trauma informed care and evidence based therapies, including dialectical behavioral therapy, to ensure that each individual receives comprehensive, specialized care tailored to their needs.
Medical oversight and medication management remain important components of aftercare, especially for those managing co occurring disorders or substance use disorders. Our team works closely with veterans affairs and VA programs to help veterans access the benefits and resources they are entitled to, supporting a smooth transition back to civilian life.
By focusing on relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and the development of healthy coping skills, our aftercare programs empower veterans to overcome addiction and manage mental health issues effectively. At Miracles in Action, we are dedicated to providing the ongoing support and structure needed for long term recovery, helping veterans reclaim their lives and thrive beyond treatment.
